Experience:

Your tour begins at 2:00 pm at the Main Bus Station in Tissamaharama, where your English-speaking guide will meet you. You will then be taken to a nearby local home where traditional baking is still practiced.

Upon arrival, you'll be warmly welcomed by the family and introduced to the baker. The guide will walk you through the small bakery setup, showcasing age-old baking tools and clay ovens used instead of modern electric machines. You’ll get a close look at how the dough is prepared and ovens are fired the traditional way.

As part of the experience, you’ll get to work with native flours and ingredients unique to Sri Lanka. Try your hand at shaping buns or firing the oven, guided closely by the friendly baker.

Once the baking is done, enjoy a relaxed tea session with the baker’s family. Taste the freshly prepared buns and pastries while engaging in conversation about their lifestyle, traditions, and love for baking. The tour concludes at 5:00 pm as you are dropped back at the Tissamaharama Bus Stand.
